Sitting here in Australia, May 9, 2025 - exactly 5 years to the day after a near-fatal cycling accident changed my life forever, this is my most interesting release to date.
I never imagined the Full Moon release would take a journey, but now I know what a mentor and musical hero of mine, Ryan Guldemond, meant when he said, "A song is never done."
I originally completed the demo version of this song back (which you can here as the bonus track) in 2022, living in High River, playing around with samples, drums, and some bare-bones vocals in my bedroom. I had just come off a whirlwind expedition to Australia full of heartbreak like hand grenades, just as the Pandemic was kicking in and the world was getting weird.
Flash forward three more years, and here we are now: my gift to the world - an interactive listening experience complete with a radio-ready, pop punk meets garage rock version, an instrumental of the same variety and a Flostate Remix, for those modern mystic type looking to get lost in the shadows and come out the other side a different human and the demo, just for nostalgia to see where it all came from.
Through it all, I've learned how to be authentically myself through my art. Through the lens that is my mind. Go figure, it took me around the world a couple of times and landed me right back on the continent where I started to find myself in my darkest night... It's all just so perfect. This is what it means to be at home. At ease. Free from dis-ease and expectation. Just like being alive.
